Oregon/Southwest Washington Region

Jane Austen Birthday Celebration
December 5, 2009

The Oregon/SW Washington Region cordially invites anyone who is interested in Jane Austen to join us in a celebration of her 234th birthday. The festivities will be held Saturday, December 5, in Lake Oswego, Oregon at Marylhurst University in the Heritage Center, located at 17425 Holy Names Drive. We begin at 1:00 p.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m. A scrumptious, catered luncheon will be provided.

It will be followed by a delightful lecture titled “Culinary Jane” by Professor Chris Wilkes of Pacific University. Yes, the food talk will come after the food – but, maybe you will want to return to the dessert table after the talk. We will also be holding a “British Jumble Sale” of Austen and/or English books, tea pots, and paraphernalia to raise money for our local region.

To attend, the cost is $30.00 per person for both JASNA and non-JASNA participants alike. Reservations are required. For further information, or to make a reservation, email Frank McClanahan at fmcclan@linfield.edu by November 10th.
