JASNA is a nonprofit society, staffed by volunteers, which relies primarily on membership dues and contributions to support its programs and outreach activities. JASNA is tax-exempt in both the US and Canada, and contributions to the society are deductible for US and Canadian income tax purposes. JASNA also provides support to sites in England that have close ties to Jane Austen and her family.

JASNA: Donations to JASNA support the society's national and regional activities, including the Annual General Meeting (AGM), publication of JASNA News and Persuasions, grants for traveling lecturers and regional conferences, and the student Essay Contest. Donations to JASNA/Canada support activities in the Canadian regions and are deductible for Canadian income tax purposes.

Jane Austen's House: The cottage in Chawton, England, where Austen lived from 1809 to 1817 and wrote her mature novels, is a museum with the house and garden open to the public. The museum is raising funds for improvements, including restoration of the cottage's original kitchen.

Jane Austen-related Churches: Contributions from JASNA fund repairs and restoration of churches that have ties to Austen and her family. Gifts have been made, for example, to St. Nicholas Church in Steventon, where Austen worshiped for 25 years and her father and brothers served as rectors.

Chawton House Library: The Elizabethan manor house that belonged to Jane Austen's brother has been renovated and is now home to a 7,000-volume library and study center devoted to early English women writers, including Jane Austen.
