“Austen at Altitude”
April 11-13, 2013
Mark your calendars now for the super events we have planned for April 2013, the “Austen at Altitude” bi-regional conference! In conjunction with the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, the Pikes Peak and Denver/Boulder Regions of JASNA are planning:
April 11, 2013: The opening night of Sense and Sensibility: The Musical and fundraiser benefiting the Chawton House Library. A stellar creative team and cast have worked for years to put together a fantastic musical interpretation of Austen’s classic. Ticket sales for opening night will benefit the Chawton House Library, and attendees purchasing fundraiser tickets will be able to attend a back-stage tour and cocktail reception prior to the musical.
April 12, 2013: From 8 to midnight, a Regency ball (optional period attire) in the magnificent Sewell Grand Ballroom, with a view of Denver that is not to be missed. Light refreshments and a cash bar.
April 13, 2013: A series of talks on Jane Austen, held at the Denver Performing Arts Complex:
- Claudia Johnson, Professor of English at Princeton, will give the keynote address
- Joan Ray, JASNA President (2000-2006), Professor of English at the University of Colorado, author of Jane Austen for Dummies, and President of the North American Friends of Chawton House Library, will moderate a round-table discussion with the creative team behind Sense and Sensibility: The Musical
