Flash Book Club

Reading

You are cordially invited to join JASNA’s Maryland Region for a Flash Book Club, an afternoon of conversation about books influenced by Jane Austen’s writings.  The meeting will begin at 12:00 PM at Gloucher College Library, the Athenaeum, with the opportunity to view a special exhibit, Pride and Prejudice: A 200 Year Affair plus get an exclusive peek inside the Alberta and Henry Burke Jane Austen Collection, part of the Goucher Library’s Special Collections & Archives.  A tea will also be served.

Jane Austen inspired countless writers to set pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard).  The results—from documented and scholarly tomes fit for a classroom to easy romantic romps perfect for the beach—bulge our bookshelves and cram our Kindles.  But which are worth recommending to our friends and fellow Janeites?  With your help, we can separate the wheat from the chaff, the Darcys from the Wickhams, etc.

Pick your favorite (or least favorite) Austen-inspired book and be prepared to give a brief review if you want to participate in the optional book club.  Send your book preference title to reetsmail@comcast.net with “JASNA MD Summer Meeting” in the subject line.

More information including the tea menu and reservation details can be found on the JASNA Maryland website.
