The Paradox of Persuasion
October 28, 2013
The sixth meeting of the Jane Austen Book Club will be held at Millsaps College on Monday, October 28 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. We will look at Jane Austen’s last novel, Persuasion, which has been described as both “the warmest and the coldest of Jane Austen’s works, the softest and the hardest.” How can a novel be both? Join Carolyn Brown, Regional Coordinator of the JASNA Mississippi Region, and Susan Allen Ford, professor of English at Delta State University and editor of Persuasions, JASNA’s scholarly journal, as they examine the characters, backgrounds, themes and critical questions that create the paradox of Persuasion.
Registration is $40 through Millsaps Continuing Education Department, 601 974-1130.
