JASNA Pittsburgh will hold its annual Summer Tea on Saturday, July 17, 2010, from 1-4 PM at the Religious Society of Friends Meeting House (4836 Ellsworth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.) Limited parking is available in the House’s small lot, or use nearby street parking. Please dress for comfort, as the facility is not air conditioned. Iced tea and lemonade will be provided. Please bring a savory (or sweet) dish to share with group.
Abigail and Allison Thompson and Mell Steven Cosnek will lead a Presentation on Austen Prequels, Sequels, Continuations, Monster Mash-ups and more, followed by a discussion of any of the books listed below. We recommend some of our favorites below (we have many). All of these should be readily available in bookstores and perhaps even your library, so get reading and enjoy!
Darcy and Anne, by late JASNA-Ontario region member Judith Brocklehurst
Charming throughout, this tale follows the romantic adventures of Anne de Bourgh.
Mr. Darcy, Vampyre, by Amanda Grange
When Lady Catherine de Bourgh tells Elizabeth Bennet that Mr. Darcy comes from an ancient family—well, she isn’t just being a snob.
Jane Bites Back, by Michael Thomas Ford
Vampire Jane, alive in the 21st century, seeks revenge on those who take advantage of her literary legacy.
An Assembly Such as This, by Pamela Aidan
This is volume one in the Fitzwilliam Darcy, Gentleman trilogy. Volume one scarcely begins before Darcy is slighting Elizabeth
and charming the community with his arrogant behavior.
