Bride and Prejudice and Jane Austen
February 10, 2013
Grab a Diet Coke and some popcorn for the winter meeting of the North Texas Region on Sunday, February 10, 2013. The meeting will be held at The Angelika Film Center Dallas from 2:00 PM - 4:30 PM. Vicki Ford, Program Chair, will begin the event with a short business meeting and Lindy Bell will discuss plans for the June 2013 Netherfield Ball.

“No life without wife”?
(If only he would have said “No life without Jane Austen”!)
We are honored to welcome back popular speaker Professor Theresa Kenney with her presentation “Jane Austen and Bollywood” – a review of Jane Austen’s reception in Asia. Professor Kenney, who received her Ph.D in English from Stanford University, will discuss the Asian translations and criticisms of Austen’s novels in social, political and cultural contexts. In this dynamic Keynote presentation, she will illustrate how Asia is now going through an “Austen boom.”
After the lecture we will enjoy a screening of the 2004 Bride and Prejudice from 2:45 PM until 4:30 PM.
The event is open to members and guests and those with an interest in Jane Austen. Cost of the program is $12.00. Popcorn and drinks are available at the refreshment counter for additional cost. Reservations are required by February 1 and are limited to the first 105 reservations. The Angelika Film Center is located at 5321 East Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, TX 75206.
