May 4, 2013
The Wisconsin Region invites members and their guests to our Spring Gala, on Saturday, May 4 at 10:30 AM in the lovely Sky Terrace Room at the Maple Bluff Country Club in Madison.
Iris Lutz, our current JASNA President, will guide us on a visual tour of Jane Austen’s life through the homes she lived in at Chawton, Bath, Kent and Winchester. She will also show us how Austen may have had these houses in mind when she created the cottages, manors and estates, such as Sotherton, Barton Cottage, Longbourn, Mansfield Park, and Pemberley in her novels.
Regency Romance award-winning writer Candice Hern will present a show-and-tell session featuring many of her Regency period antiques. Her collections include scent bottles, beaded sovereign purses, knitted Regency purses, buckles, Georgian Woven-Hair Lace Pins, porcelain, jewelry, fans, fashion prints, and lovers’ eyes. All the things a girl wants! Candice is a passionate collector of Georgian and Regency period antiques and will talk of the history and background of her treasures.
Luncheon entrees are priced at $23 each. Reservations must be made by April 23. For more information, email Judy Beine at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Iris Lutz’s appearance is funded in part by a grant from the Jane Austen Society of North America.
