Welcome

A warm Canadian welcome awaits you for the JASNA 2007 Annual General Meeting. The Vancouver Region. is looking forward to hosting you and sharing our passion for all things Jane Austen. We have a wonderful program lined up that will both stimulate and inform you.

Our theme is "Discovering Emma in Vancouver" and we have invited many excellent speakers to share their knowledge with us. Our venue is the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, a popular place in the city for the past seventy years and host of a variety of celebrations and even occasionally the residence of visiting royalty.

As always, our conference is a great time for JASNA members, both old and new, to meet and exchange ideas and viewpoints. We have arranged a special opportunity for Life Members and first-time attendees to mingle.

To keep you active, we offer English Country Dance classes that will get your toes a tapping and get you in the mood. Perhaps Mr. Knightley will lead you to the floor!

Other workshops will keep your fingers busy making elegant ribbon flowers or reticules to enhance your Regency Ball ensemble.

Vancouver is a great city and we are very proud of it. To help you enjoy it to the fullest, we have arranged for a variety of bus tours to show you around Vancouver, the North Shore, Whistler (site of the 2010 Olympics), and Vancouver Island. We have also arranged for local members to accompany you on walking tours to unique and interesting parts of downtown Vancouver.

We wish you a wonderful stay and hope that during your time with us you will discover not only Vancouver but also something new in Jane Austen's heroine, "whom no one but myself will much like." (Jane Austen: letter to Cassandra)
