Welcome

The District of Columbia, Washington DC Metropolitan Region invites you to attend JASNA’s 2016 Annual General Meeting to celebrate “Emma at 200: ‘No One But Herself.’”  Emma Woodhouse and her story are singular in many ways, and the singular city of Washington is the perfect place to learn and reflect on them with friends and scholars.

What is the JASNA AGM?  It’s a literary conference, with dozens of lectures by renowned scholars and researchers on all aspects of Jane Austen’s work, her life, and her era.  It’s a social gathering, where Austen readers from around the world meet, converse, and explore together, and even (for those willing) dance and sing.  It’s a feast for the senses, with music, food, exhibits, and hands-on workshop experiences highlighting the sounds, tastes, and textures of Jane Austen’s world.

Please visit all the AGM pages to learn more about our conference theme, hotel, the city of Washington, and much more.  Check back often, as we post additional information and updates.  We look forward to your visit.
